Our Story

Family Dog Naturals is proudly owned and operated by Betsy and David Head. The two have a mission to help pet parents learn the importance of a healthy diet, and how it can positively impact their furry companion’s life. But what makes them different? For Betsy and Dave, this isn’t work. They love what they do and find it rewarding to educate on healthy dog and cat lifestyles and watch the changes occur.

Betsy has worked in animal wellness and nutrition for over 23 years. Before relocating to Leland in 2012, David worked in the restaurant business for more than 28 years. Combined, the duo has over 50 years experience in retail customer service. We are proud to be your local Leland dog and cat wellness and nutrition shop for over since 2013!

Betsy and Dave complete their family at home with their rescued Beagle George. They said goodbye to their beloved Sophie, an almost 16 year old beagle in 2018 and Finny, a 15 year old beagle/chihuahua mix in 2022, both who are missed everyday. George, Sophie and Finny have benefited from a healthy, real fresh food regimen their entire lives and Betsy and Dave and all of the team would like to help your furry family member experience the same benefits.

From the beginning one of the most important things we could offer was to always provide outstanding customer service. Not only are we thankful to hear it from our customers regularly but our reviews reflect it as well.

What sets us apart from other retail shops is our team. They are exceptional.

Valarie had been with us since 2015. Her pack includes her 2 dogs Aiden 14 and Alastor 2. She is also the best cat mom to her 6 furry kitties AC 16, Teddy 16, Monster 14, Nugglet 5, Lucien 3 and Schmitty 3. She does the research and will guide you through all your questions. You can’t miss Val, she’s the gal with the purple hair, her signature color!

Maddie has been with us since 2020. Her 2 rescues are Bohdi 8, and Bambi 4.

She studied animal science at UNCW and anyone that knows Maddie knows she is always there to offer great options and advice but more importantly love all over your pups and make them feel super special.

Katie has been with us since 2023. She has a sweet 16 year cat named Couscous.

Katie will hold your hand and do her absolute best to listen to all your needs.
